Coach Julie has been coaching since the age of 16. She started out her coaching career like many do, on the grid-iron cheering on junior league football teams. While having a deep passion for the sport, she decided to take on the dual role of a coach/athlete during her high school career. Having coached that same junior league team for four years in high school, she developed a special bond with each athlete that couldn’t be broken. For this reason during her senior year, she requested that her junior team be part of the Michigan Xtreme All Star program, an elite competitive UCA All-Star team in Saline, MI, which Julie had also been a part of since her junior year as an athlete herself making a top five appearance both years in the UCA Nationals. During her senior year, she managed to coach her junior team to the UCA Nationals by age 18. There, they placed top five in the country in there first year. After high school she worked for a cheer camp called Champion Cheerleading in Alma, MI. Here, girls off all ages and skill levels were taught Cheers, Advanced Stunts and Tumbling.
In college, Coach Julie started off at Saginaw Valley State University. She cheered there for one year, but with aspirations to cheer for an NCAA Division 1 team, she decided to transfer to Western Michigan University where she then joined the Cheer team. She then proceeded to cheer there for the next 4 years.
Coach Julie studied Sales & Marketing at Western Michigan University. She met her husband Branden Ledbetter at WMU. They have two children, Madisyn and Noah. Julie has a passion for youth and influencing the lives of young people. She believes that cheerleading and tumbling should first and foremost be fun and enjoyable. Community and dedicated involvement of the parents are key for the success of her teams. Respect and academics will always come before hitting the cheer mat. She stands to a strict policy that if your grades are unsatisfactory, you will be unable to participate in her program. Encouraging children in all aspects of life will better prepare them for the future. Although Cheerleading is high on her priority list, God and family come first, always.
In her free time, Coach Julie enjoys spending time with her family. And when she’s not with her family, she can usually be found in the Crossfit gym keeping her-self strong enough to be able to Demo most gymnastic skills and stunting techniques. She knows from experience it is much easier for her students to perform stunts when they can physically see it. She also enjoys snowboarding, rollerblading, homeschooling her daughter, and keeping up with her two year old.
